Entice Your Child In Eleven Ways To Say Yes To Home Schooling

Understanding the positive net effects of home schooling can be a difficult concept to grasp for your little one. In most situations, the major decision to try home schooling is one that is decided and dictated by you, the parent. When it comes to breaking the news to your child, your child may view you in two ways only: you're either an antagonist or a protagonist.

When you haven't had the close bonding with your child, you will be easily associated by him/her as an antagonist who spoils every little boy's or every little girl's fun. In some cases, your child may even think of your decision as a form of punishment for some major blunder that he/she previously committed.

When you have a very close bond with your child, however, you will be easily associated by him/her as the protagonist who can save his/her day. If your child has confided to you about his/her qualms about being bullied or not being liked enough when he/she goes to school, he/she will definitely consider as a treat your decision to opt for home schooling.

If you anticipate being viewed as an antagonist by your child when you suggest your home schooling idea and decision to him/her, do not be disheartened. You can try a very simple technique of getting your child to like your home schooling decision. The trick is to focus your “sales talk” on your child's egotistic wants and needs. The following are some of the positive things you can say to entice your child to be home schooled.

• You don't have to wake up grumpily to a six a.m. alarm. None will be set. You have no school bus to catch.

• You don't have to take your bath in the morning. You can take it after lunch or in the afternoon. You have more time in the bathroom to play with your rubber ducky.

• You don't have to eat the typical cereal for breakfast. You can wait for mommy to finish making you your favorite sandwich or waffles, and you can leisurely eat your breakfast.

• You don't have to wear a uniform. You can wear what you want. If you want to show off your new jacket, you can just invite your best friends over for a glass of cold lemonade.

• You don't have to raise your hand to ask permission to go to the potty.

• You don't have to say goodbye to Balto. Your favorite pet will be in sight, if not beside you, when you read your books and do your seatwork.

• You don't have to do silly things or join a clique to be popular. Mommy and daddy love you to bits and pieces.

• You don't have to be embarrassed when you don't know the answer. You can ask questions whenever you're confused, or you can tell mommy to explain things to you.

• You don't have to enter a squabble to get the nicest-looking supplies. All the nice-looking supplies are exclusively yours.

• You don't have to brush shoulders with the snobbish girls or suffer bruises from the big bullies in school. You're in a safe place.

• You don't have to be home late. No one's ever going to forget to pick you up. You're already home.
